Shaving Accessories
First, here is a shaving brush made from a premium silver-tipped badger knot with an antler handle. Because of the porosity of the handle, I turned a button for the end of the handle to help seal the marrow of the antler from the moisture present in the shaving environment.
Next, a set with a custom turned razor handle and a matching brush handle. This was turned to the customers specifications for length on the brush (3 1/2 inches) so if the handle appears to be a little short, it is intentional. These two items were turned from matching commercial acrylic blanks.
I can also make cosmetic brushes. The brush below was made for my stepson who cuts hair. I thought it would be a nice tool to brush hair clippings off his customers' faces, but he informed me that the brush was too fine and would not pick up the hair clippings. However, it does show what can be done with the cosmetic knots that are available to wood turners. The handle of the cosmetic brush is bocote, from South America.
