Platings
I use only platings that I know will result in long life and maximum the attractiveness of the pen.
| Plating Type | Durability | Comments |
| Titanium Gold | *********** | Attractive long lasting finish - looks good with reddish and brownish woods. |
| Black Titanium | *********** | Attractive long lasting finish - sets off light colored woods very well. One of my favorite platings to use with deer antler. |
| Platinum or Rhodium | *********** | High grade shiny finish. Sets off very dark, black or deep blue colors very well. |
| Chrome | ********** | An economic alternative to Platinum/Rhodium. A long lasting plating that shows off dark woods or acrylics very well. |
Gold
|
***** | Common plating on inexpensive pens. Gold in it's simple forms makes an elegant appearance, but has a tendancy to wear off fairly rapidly in daily use. |
| Black Chrome Black Enamel |
***** | This plating has nice appearance that sets off some wood beautifully. However, it can chip off and leave an unsightly mark on the hardware |
